To celebrate its first anniversary, Platform Cinema CIC is pleased to announce this special afternoon screening which will delight children from around three years old upwards.

We will show two wonderful films…:

The Red Balloon (1956, 30 minutes)

On his way to school, a young boy sees a red balloon tied to a lamppost; he unties it and takes it with him. He treats the balloon with care, much like he would another human being. In return, the balloon becomes his friend and he no longer even needs to hold onto its string as the balloon willingly follows him around. But as he was attracted to the balloon in friendship, other children also become interested in it, and try to take it away from him, not all with the best of intentions. The boy’s efforts to protect his friend leads to his kindness being paid several times over in return. Charming and memorable multi award-winning French children’s movie (no need to understand French as entirely visual and almost word-free)

Winnie the Pooh. (2011 version, 63 minutes)

Walt Disney Animation Studios returns to the Hundred Acre Wood with Winnie the Pooh. Featuring the timeless charm, wit and whimsy of the original featurettes, this all-new movie reunites audiences with the philosophical “bear of very little brain” and friends Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Owl, Kanga, Roo-and last, but certainly not least, Eeyore, who has lost his tail. “Ever have one of those days where you just can’t win, Eeyore?” asks Pooh. Owl sends the whole gang on a wild quest to save Christopher Robin from an imaginary culprit. It turns out to be a very busy day for a bear who simply set out to find some honey. Inspired by three stories from A.A. Milne’s books in Disney’s classic, hand-drawn art style.

There will be an intermission after the first film when you can purchase Langage Farm dairy ice cream, freshly-made organic popcorn, and beverages from the bar (some soft drinks will be available).
